Dead sea, the name thought to be given by ancient visitors to the area 100’s of years ago observed that nothing lived in the waters neither fish nor plants hence it was called dead. Dead Sea is enclosed by Jordan to the east and Israel and Palestine to the west. It is ‘deepest hypersaline’ lake in the world  having high salinity (8.6 times saltier than oceans), people can easily float in it without sinking due to its natural buoyancy properties.

Water therapy

Dead sea is famous for water therapy or can also be said as world only open air spa due to its high salinity. It is therapeutic for skin treatments in eczema, psoriasis as there is high mineral content in its water and UV radiation from the suns rays is reduced, the higher atmospheric pressure at the lower altitudes means the air is enriched with oxygen and there is a very low level of pollen and other allergens. In the heart of the Israeli Dead Sea resort, located the Dead Sea clinic medical center. This foundation has been established on the principle of kurotology.

Herods palace

Dead Sea was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world’s first health resorts (for Herod the Great), Queen Cleopatra that first ordered health resorts to be built along it’s shore line, and factories to make cosmetic products from the mineral rich mud.

Ein gedi is an oasis and natural reserve in Israel. ‘Ein Gedi’ literally means  ‘kid spring’.

The Ein Gedi National Park is the second largest oasis in Israel.

 Jericho

It is called as ‘city of palms’. It is one of the oldest cities of the world. It has attractions like Mount of temptation monastery, Nabi Musa , Wadi  Qelt.

 Qumran national park

Qumran city was called as city of salt in biblical account. Tourists can travel to Qumran National Park by taking Route 90 north of the Dead Sea. It includes series of caves: some natural and some artificial.

 Mount Sodom

Those who invest the time to climb to the top will be richly rewarded with panoramic views of the Dead Sea and its surrounding hills. ‘Fish trial’ is the area where fossilized skeletons of fish can be found within schist layers. Malcham cave underneath the mount Sodom is said to be the single natural salt cave in the world. This mountain continues to grow taller at a rate of 3.5 mm a year.

 Lot’s cave

There is a story behind it. Sodom and Gomorrah were two of the evil cities in the world. So, God decided to demolish them both. But there was only one good family in the city who were saved. They were asked to flee the city and were told not to look back. But unluckily, Lot’s wife looked back and turned to pillar of salt. Lot and his daughters hid in a cave and saw the destruction of the cities. This cave is called ‘Lots cave’.

Wadi  Arugot

There are pools and waterfalls. It is a beautiful hike in an ever-flowing stream and usually less crowded.

Wadi Bokek

This valley has tapered gorges and waterholes. There is also a flourishing vegetation around. So, this hike is very refreshing one.

Mount Nebo

It is a 1000m high mountain in western Jordan. According to the final chapter of the Book of Deuteronomy, Moses ascended Mount Nebo to view the Land of Israel.

With all these attractions around and near, makes the amazing Dead Sea, a must see place.

Tel Aviv literally means ‘hill of spring’ is the ethnic city in Israel. Epithet of Tel Aviv is a ‘white city’ because of Bauhaus-style buildings with white exteriors adorn its streets. It has many tourist attractions but it has some unique speciality. In Tel Aviv, there is an active gay community. Gays have free normal life in Israel particularly in Tel Aviv. Tel aviv offers a gay tourist separate variety of options. It is considered as gays’ friendly place.

Today, all of the three Israeli daily newspapers have openly gay editors and several LGBT-publications do exist. Israel became the first in Asia to recognize unregistered cohabitation between same-sex couples.

Tel Aviv wasn’t actually never a gay town. Some years ago, the mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai, realized his city had all the necessary ingredients to become a leading gay tourist destination The mayor‘s office issued a third of its own tourism budget for the project. He sent prominent Israeli performers to gay-pride events in major cities around the world. The project used most of the media’s strategies across Europe and America to publicise the event.

There was a news in 2011 that Tel Aviv declared world’s best gay travel destination. About 5000 gay tourists took part in Gay Pride Parade which is held every year. Tel Aviv’s annual gay pride parade is a must for those who want to experience gays’ value in the country. Tel Aviv is considered as the epicenter of Israel’s LGBT scene. In 2012, Gaycities.com and American Airlines gave Tel Aviv the title of the world’s best city for gay tourism, and the Hilton beach ranked the world’s top 10 gay beaches.

Tel Aviv is a place where one can find a huge gay population with a sense of openheartedness and a flourishing nightlife scene. There are lively gay bars at night. It can be considered as popular gay destination where they have options of saunas, bars, resorts. Tel Aviv is full of cafes, bars and clubs that cater to the local Israeli gay residents and LGBT travelers where many of the popular gay venues actually have mixed crowds. Lima Lima , a symbol of Tel Aviv night life since some years is included in the favourite list. Kuli Alma is a new and trendy underground bar with outdoor lounging, indoor dancing and even a changing art gallery. Evita is an elegant and one of the oldest gay bars in the city.  Apolo Club is another gays dearest place located off of Allenby Street.

Gays bus tour is provided by ‘Outstanding travels’ every weekend to Jerusalem and the Dead Sea and if you’re visiting during Tel Aviv pride, they run the tours on a daily basis.

Tel Aviv may soon be called “The Pink City,” as tourism industry heads are planning on transforming the city into the gay capital of the world.

Jerusalem, as the name suggests is the foundation of (the god) Shalem, the patron-god of the city. With an abundance of spirituality, Western wall tunnel and Siloam tunnel (Hezekiah’s Tunnel) are prominent tourist destinations of Jerusalem. The tunnels are an evidence of fascinating history etched in stone that demonstrates Jewish people’s connection to Jerusalem, which did not fade even during years of exile. These were created by numerous arches supported by staircases going from the city to the Temple Mount. In the first century c.e, these tunnels were utilized by the citizens for travelling to the heyday of Jerusalem, the greatest days in the history of the city.

Siloam tunnel is a water tunnel that was dug underneath the City of David. It leads to the Pool of Siloam, where Jesus cured a blind man. It provided drinking water (from the Gihon Spring to Pool of Siloam) to the population within the walls of Jerusalem, especially during any army blockade. This ‘S’ shaped, 1750-foot tunnel was carved during the reign of Hezekiah for carrying water from one side of the city to the other.

Western wall (Kotel in Hebrew) tunnel is located in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem. While its open-air portion is approximately 200 feet long, the majority of its original length is hidden underground. It is a sacred site of Jewish prayer & pilgrimage. The other façade of these tunnels were political and religious controversies. As the wall runs alongside the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa mosque, which are the sacred sites to the Muslim faith, Arabs and Israelis have frequently clashed over the control of the Wall.

Opening the tunnels to the public required complicated logistics to ensure safe and enjoyable access

Stopping over by these tunnels would definitely be a rejuvenating and mesmerizing experience, evocating the by gone days of Jerusalem.
